WHEN THE GOING GETS TOTH

Maksim Tyurin just eliminated Zoltan Toth. Tyurin’s proved too much against the ‘fake’ aces of Toth who held after a  board.

THREEWAY ALL IN BUSTS NO ONE

22:44, March 6th, 2010
Tags: , ,

A preflop threeway all in tripled the short stack and kept the last three tables (as they now are) all in the game.  The money went in quickest from shortest stacked Anthon-Pieter Wink, who had picked up the when all it could win for him was a short stack back, however two players came along for the ride, Egmonts Grzibovskis, with and Patrick Bousquie with .  The flop brought a King, giving the second shortest stack the side pot, and leaving Bousquie short.

He duly shoved the next hand with (with 82k, though) and was quickly called by Christian Kall with which held to bust him in 27th – prize: €4,209.

LAHTI LOOKS FORWARD

22:29, March 6th, 2010

A bit of pay back for Miska Lahti, he’s made something resembling a major comeback. First against Par Lygren he got there with against after a board.

Soon after he did it again pushing with and Lygren calling with but a : board pushed more chips towards Lahti before Lahti then doubled through Janos Nemeth with A-K vs A-J as well.

From virtually nothing he has got himself back above the 100,000 mark.

CATCH A COOLER, END UP SICK!

22:20, March 6th, 2010

_MG_0092This has to be the most eye-watering hand of the entire tournament… definitely got the most crowd reaction of any so far – and you can see why.

Not much of a surprise that Par Lygren was happy to commit his stack preflop with , and not much of a surprise that Miska Lahti (pictured) called with .

Flop:  … Turn:   so split potential dawns, but probably not quads potential so much – river = .  Lygren doubles while the table goes, “Ooooh.”

THANK YOU, YOU ARE A GENTLEMAN

21:10, March 6th, 2010

_MG_0276So spoke Mitrovics Hrvoje (pictured) to Zoltan Toth, but he was just a two-outer away from using a different word to ‘gentleman’ entirely, as Toth’s nearly knocked him out!  To be fair, he had just 22k and moved in preflop with , given a spin by small blind Toth.  His railing friends were horrified by the flop, however…

But then… the appeared on the turn to make everything better, and there was no Queen on the river.  So all of his frustration turned to gratitude as he smilingly piled up his (still very short) stack.

SECOND PAYOUT BRACKET NOW, ACTION HOTTING UP

21:00, March 6th, 2010
Tags: , ,

They’ve set up hand for hand at every pay jump now, but there seems to be no repeat of the bubble area – players are throwing themselves into the pots like lemmings off cliffs made of potential prize money.

_MG_0072The last couple to make their way to the Casino to be paid were both sent packing by the river.  Frederic Bottoli (left) picked up the monstrous , and also a preflop caller – Gonzalo Sanz Santos – and there came an unassuming flop of .  He moved in, and got a call – Santos had the nut flush draw with .  The turn was safe enough, but the river was the card to bust Bottoli.  Santos couldn’t help a rejoicing clap on the river but then shook Bottoli’s hand as he whispered a sad, “Good Game.”

The next to go was Jeffrey Schurman, who called all in with when Anthon-Pieter _MG_0062Wink moved all-in preflop in early position.  Wink held , but it looked like the flop helped the shorter player:  .  The turn was harmless, but the river was the   giving Wink the broadway straight and busting Schurman.

PAVIC ON THE DANCEFLOOR

20:35, March 6th, 2010
Tags: ,

Or the bar, or the lobby, or taking a nap, but either way Davor Pavic is no longer in the tournament, busting by running K-J into Queens preflop, which went nowhere (an extra Queen even hit the flop for good measure).

_MG_0180It seems like the only short-stack who’s come off with a good double through recently has been fellow Swede Philip Stupar Antonio, who got it in with preflop vs. Patrick Bousquie’s .  Bousquie pictured left, now nursing a shortish stack of his own.  When Antonio’d successfully avoided outdraws by the river, he bizarrely turned to neighbour Michal Wisniewski and shook him by the hand.
