We’re now on a 1 hour dinner break before the HU.

LASSE GO HOME! LASSE NIELSEN ELIMINATED IN 3RD PLACE (€65,010)

18:39, June 6th, 2010

_MAT4071.jpg

Dan Murariu open-shoved from the small blind and suddenly Lasse Nielsen made the call in the big blind.

Murariu:
Nielsen: A small but ahead

The flop came and Murariu took the lead but the on the turn gave Nielsen a few additional outs. The on the river wasn’t one of them though and it meant that Nielsen would go out in third place taking home just over €65,000 for his work. It’s now Romania vs Denmark for the title, chip counts to follow but it looks like they are virtually even at this point.

LASSE DOESN’T GO HOME – YET

18:33, June 6th, 2010

Salvation on the river for Lasse Nielsen, he was all-in preflop with K-T against Dan Murariu’s K-J but the board came Q-2-7-7-Q meaning the King played and the pot was chopped.

MURARIU’S AIRBALL GETS THERE

18:30, June 6th, 2010

Dan Murariu limped in preflop and Lasse Nielsen checked his option.

Murariu fired out 35,000 on the flop and Nielsen made the call.

The turn was the and Murariu fired again which seemed a bit odd as it polarised his range towards 7’s and air only and Nielsen would be unlikely to fold a pair now the board had paired.

Nielsen called the bet of 75,000 from his Romanian opponent and they saw a river which was checked down. Murariu turned over a rivered having pipped Nielsen’s right on the river.

SIMEON NAYDENOV ELIMINATED IN 4TH PLACE (€47,280)

18:00, June 6th, 2010

_MAT4041.jpg

Bjaerke Hansen raised preflop to 64,000, only for big blind Simeon Naydenov to reraise to 163,000.

Hansen elected to flat-call and they saw a possible action inducing flop. Naydenov led out for 220,000, a good chunk of his chips while Hansen stared intently at him. Naydenov turned around and stared back before Hansen announced he was all-in, the Bulgarian sighed, shrugged and called in about three seconds.

Naydenov:
Hansen: An incredibly sneakily played

Hansen had top set but Naydenov could hit a king or an eight to win the pot, the turn however was the and Naydenov was relying on the river to save him but the board paired with the .

Hansen is now a big chip leader here having almost been out about an hour ago, he has over 2 million and more than half the chips in play.

BALANCE OF POWER SHIFTING

17:27, June 6th, 2010

These are the rough stacks four handed:

Simeon Naydenov – 770k
Bjaerke Hansen – 1.3 mil
Dan Murariu – 1.1 mil
Lasse Nielsen – 630k

Hansen was up to 1.5 million chips, raising preflop with the big stack’s confident aggression repeatedly, until he paid off Dan Murariu’s river 125k bet after Murariu had flopped top pair ( ) on a board.  Both players had checked the flop, with Murariu raising to 70k when Hansen bet out 25k on the turn, and then getting another six figures on the river.

PREMIUM HANS: BAKENS ELIMINATED IN 5TH (€36,938)

17:12, June 6th, 2010

_MAT3925.jpgWow.  Seconds after Sharov headed off the Feature Table, and Twan Bakens takes his place at the rail.  Bakens made his move preflop with repopping the flying Bjaerke Hansen, only to find he’d been raising with a big old hand – .  This improved to no less than a full house to send Bakens reeling out.  What a comeback for Hansen, and disappointment for the suddenly bright-orange-clad Dutchman (and his loyal and hitherto enthusiastic rail)!

_MAT4007.jpgHaving doubled up Simeon Naydenov with vs. all in on a flop, Bjaerke Hansen found himself the shortie on just 177k.  This was his queue to move in preflop again, and again and again.  Three lots of (large) blinds uncontested, and then on the big blind he called Alexandr Sharov’s button shove.

Sharov:
Hansen:

His kicker stayed ahead as the board ran out and he busts Sharov (pictured), coming back from the brink of elimination himself.

BLUFFING

16:50, June 6th, 2010

BLINDS UP!

16:45, June 6th, 2010

12k/24k – getting steep now.  Here’s the distribution of chips:

Twan Bakens – 550k
Alexandr Sharov – 350k
Simeon Naydenov – 530k
Bjarke Hansen – 500k
Dan Murariu – 1.2 mil
Lasse Nielsen – 620k

Nielsen’s momentum sort of stalled and then headed in reverse lately, but he’s still the second largest stack after the quiet but determined-looking Murariu.  Just now he raised to 55k preflop but laid it down to a Bakens button threebet.

A FRACTION OF EARLIER ACTION

16:02, June 6th, 2010

The last half hour has mainly been made up of preflop raises to 45k or so, followed by passing from the table.  Flops have dried up somewhat.  Murariu, Nielsen and Naydenov have all given the preflop blind steal a go, successful apart from Naydenov who got repopped to 110k by Murariu in the small blind and gave it up.
