LEADERBOARDS
Why Leaderboards?
The challenge of a single event is one thing, but to rise above the crowd consistently is an aim of every serious tournament poker player. Unibet Open will be keeping track of players individually, as well as their country’s overall rankings over the whole series of individual events (Budapest, Golden Sands, Prague, Valencia and London) taking place during 2010.
What kind of Leaderboards do we have, and how are they calculated?
Individual players earn Player Points whenever they cash in an event. Points are calculated using this formula:
10*SQRT(players)*(1+LOG10(buy-in+0.25))/SQRT(position+5)
Why? This formula rewards players who are consistent throughout the year. There is a benefit to going deeper into the tournament but the formula still allocates enough points to money finishers to allow consistent players to catch those who have won an event. Obviously, the more players who enter an event the more points are on offer to the player who beats them all and goes on to win. Winning the special edition event which has a higher buy-in also results in more points for the winner.
Country Points are awarded whenever a player from a particular country cashes in an event. Points are calculated using this formula:
10*SQRT(players)*(1+LOG10(buy-in +0.25))/SQRT(position)
Why? This formula rewards players finishing deeper more than the Player Points system – this is intended to offset the larger numbers of players from some countries and allow outstanding performances to really sway the country leaderboard.
When do the Leaderboards start and end?
The Leaderboards start with the first Unibet Open event of 2010 (Budapest, 4th-7th Match) and run throughout the year, the final points being awarded during the London leg, 4th-7th December 2010. View the current standings on the homepage.
