TRANSPORTATION
This time Unibet Open will be held at the Nuovo Casinò di Campione
Address: Piazzale Milano 1 Lugano 22060
Switzerland
Tel: 004191 6401111
Fax: 004191 6401112
Although the casino is geographically situated in Switzerland it is actually an Italian enclave and makes up part of the Lombardy region of Northern Italy.
The casino’s dress code is fairly strict and guests are expected to wear a jacket, shirt and tie. If you visit the casino you also need to take with you an identity card or passport to gain entry into the complex. However you do not need to show a passport when entering the town of Campione as there is no formal frontier or border controls.
As Campione is across the lake from Lugano you can reach it by car or ferry. It is approximately 9km by road from Lugano and about 20 minutes by ferry. There is a regular ferry service that runs across the lake from Lugano to Campione. You can find the timetable for the ferry here.

Trains
Lugano Airport can be reached by train via the railway Lugano-Ponte Tresa (FLP). You can get on the train in front of the Federal Railways Station in Lugano.
From the train stop at Agno it’s only a 10 minutes walk to the airport.
FLP schedules offer connections Lugano Centro - Agno Centro 7 days a week:
Mon - Fri: every 20 minutes from 05.30 to 18.35
Sat / Sun: every 30 minutes
Duration of trip 15 minutes
From the two airports below you need to/you can go via Milan city centre first.
2. Malpensa Airport
From the Malpensa Airport you can take the express train into the centre of Milano. The Malpensa Express takes approximately 40 minutes and costs about €11 one way. For alternative routes, check out the transportation page of the airport here.
Once in Milan city centre you can take the train from there out to Lugano, tickets to be found here.
3. Linate Airport
Linate is the airport closest to Milan, but only offers taxi or bus service into Milan, from where you can then take the train to Lugano. For alternative routes, check out the transportation information page of the airport here.
Once in Milan city centre you can take the train from there out to Lugano, tickets to be found here.
4. Orio Al Serio
If you book your flights through ryanair you will land at Orio al Serio, 2km away from a city called Bergamo. From there you can take the bus to Bergamo just in front of the the arrival exit, info here. This is a shuttle bus that goes every 30 minutes directly to the Bergamo Train Station on Monday to Saturday from 5,30 to 22,30 at a cost of € 2
From Bergamo there is also a train to Lugano that takes 3hours. You can buy ticket here. Tickets cost approximately 20euro for a single fare in 2nd class.
In case you prefer to travel via Milan city centre and catch a faster train from there, you need to get the shuttle from Orio to Milan centre. The shuttle will leave its passenger in front of the train station.
FROM MILANO TO LUGANO
1. Express bus services
There is an express bus services connecting Malpensa Airport to Lugano which drops passengers off in the centre by the main station.
Cost of return ticket is approximately 35 Euros and passengers have to make a shuttle bus reservation before their arrival at Malpensa Airport, via the Star Bus website.
2. Train
Another option is to catch a train from Milan to Lugano. Trains leaving Milano Central pass through Monza and Como before arriving at Lugano main station. The duration is approximately 1.5 hours and an average single ticket costs less than 20 Euros and can be purchased from the SBB Rail site.
3. Car Rentals
The road up to Lugano is very scenic, which is why we thought of recommending seeing it from a car. Here are a few links to car rental search sites for hiring a car immediately from the airport.
