Unibet Open – Norwegian Qualifier

Leif Magnar Bach qualified to Unibet Poker Open through a rake race on the site. Leif Magnar is 52 years old and lives in Hoyanger close to Bergen in Norway. “This is my first live tournament and I am thrilled about being here in Madrid. I have been playing poker for 37 years, but I was introduced to Texas Hold’em three years ago. I am playing online quite a lot and the last couple of months, due to the bad weather, I have collected 10 000 VIP-points each month. I usually play three hours a day on average, but lately it has been around six hours a day”, says Leif Magnar. Leif Magnar also brought his 25-year-old son to Madrid who has come to cheer for his dad and to play some cash games at the Casino Gran Madrid. We wish him good luck and will follow him today as he is playing on Friday’s day 1A.

Unibet Open – Kick off

Unibet Open Live from Madrid! Liveblogg from Madrid by Rickard Åberg Kick Off Unibet Poker Open is about to begin in Madrid and the luxurious Casino Gran Madrid is ready to take care of the 300 poker players that will invade the area during this mid-May weekend. This will be the biggest poker event ever to be arranged at this location and the poker room looks great. While most of the celebrity players, together with Unibet’s Nordic Poker Team, will play on Saturday’s Day 1B, most of the online qualifiers will play in Friday’s day 1A. According to the rules, all the players were allowed to bring one friend, family member or partner to this tournament and there will be a lot of people on the rail today cheering for “their” players. Thursday night Unibet had arranged a welcoming party at the Mandalay Conference Center adjacent to Casino Gran Madrid, with food and drinks. Players from the Nordic region dominated the crowd, but there were also guests from all over the world, with Mark Spurr being the one who made the longest trip from his native South Africa. After a welcome speech by Unibet’s poker manager Nils Andén and a good bit of mingling, buses escorted the group to the very posh night club Buddha Bar in central Madrid for a good night out. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves and today we are preparing for day 1A to kick off at 16:30 CET. Reports will follow throughout the entire tournament here on Unibet.com
