Countdown to Unibet Open Bucharest!

There are just 24 hours to go before Unibet Open Bucharest kicks off at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel in the heart of the Romanian capital.

A packed schedule awaits the hundreds of players set to compete at the festival with over 135 players enjoying the ultimate Unibet experience after qualifying online for the €1,100 buy-in Main Event. That includes 14 players from the host country along with dozens more entrants from all over Europe. Among the treats in store are Thursday’s Welcome Drinks in the Champions Sports Bar, access to Saturday’s Players Party at Face Club, a free dinner every night of the event, Unibet merchandise and the chance to mingle with Unibet Ambassadors.

The €1,100 Main Event
The festival, which is being run in conjunction with PokerFest Romania, is taking place from November 29 to December 3. The Main Event features three start flights in total – Day 1a on November 30 plus Day 1b and a Day 1c turbo on December 1. All players receive a 30,000 starting stack and have a single re-entry option into Day 1c. Late registration is open until the start of Level 7.

 

Packed schedule
As well as the Main Event, other highlights include the €110 buy-in Ladies Event, the prestigious €2,200 High Roller, a €220 Pot Limit Omaha tournament, the €550 Unibet Chip Race Mystery Bounty event and several turbo tournaments. The five-day festival kicks off with the €330 Unibet Opener, which starts at 1pm on Wednesday.

 

The final day will be action-packed with the Main Event playing down to a champion alongside Day 3 of the Mystery Bounty, a €165 Mini Main Event and a final NLH hyper turbo. The Mini ME is a single re-entry tournament which will mirror the Main Event with all players receiving a generous 30,000 starting stack and 15-minute blind levels.

 

Unibet Ambassadors
Among those set to compete in Bucharest are Unibet Ambassadors Dara O’Kearney and David Lappin. As hosts of the award-winning Chip Race podcast, the pair have built up a strong following but it all started in Romania back in 2017. O’Kearney said: “It was in Bucharest that David and I first started talking to Unibet about becoming ambassadors so we’re really looking forward to this year’s event. It’s a beautiful city with warm, friendly people and great food!”

 

Unibet Open Bucharest history
Anton Vinokurov took down the last Unibet Open Bucharest Main Event which was held in 2018. Vinokurov won a record first prize of €103,060 after beating a tough field of 592 entries. A total of 87 players got a share of the €592,000 prize pool.

The first-ever Unibet Open Bucharest was held in 2016. Local hero Traian Bostan beat the huge field of 603 players to take home a €100,000 top prize. In 2017, fellow Romanian Marius Pertea won the Main Event for €90,925.
