Day 1a Done, Dusted; Lundmark in the Lead

_DSC9094.jpgMesdames et messieurs, that is your lot.

A total of 201 players started Day 1a, and of them 65 remain. The chip leader as they bagged and tagged was none other than Kent Lundmark, one-time EPT Barcelona champion. Can he add a Unibet Open title to his collection? Only time will tell.

Also near the top of the chip counts are Huy Binh Chung, Clement Thumy, Petra van Vugt and Luigi Etzi. Other interesting folks still in the mix include Unibet Ambassador Dan Glimne, last season’s Leaderboard winner Tim Verbon, chess prodigy Almira Skripchenko, former Swedish international footballer Tomas Brolin and Unibet Open Malta winner Matteusz Moolhuizen.

For every happy player progressing to Day 2, though, there are a bunch of heartbroken bustees who will have to wait until Unibet Open London to take their shot at the title – let us spare a moment to consider the fates of Alex Rousso, Nicolas Storm, Aleh Plauski, Nicolas Dervaux, Roger Hairabedian, and everyone else who failed to make the Day 2 grade.

But tomorrow is another day – and it promises to be a particularly exciting day for the roughly 240 players we’re expecting to descend on the Cercle Cadet poker room. Play starts at noon CET, with the live stream running from around 2pm. Be sure to join us then.
