Day 1a of the Unibet Poker Belgian Championship 2018 is Set to Start at 1 PM!

The Unibet Poker Belgian Championship 2018 is back at the beach as the amazing Casino Blankenberge is hosting us again after two hugely successful events in 2016 and 2017! After we have received the honors of being voted Event of the Year during the Belgian Poker Awards in April, this year’s edition is set to exceed everyone’s expectations.

In 2016, Belgium’s own Fabrice Lestrade beat 406 other players to win the inaugural UPBC Main Event for €40,107 and in 2017, Germany’s Heinrich Pauker topped the 457-entry field for €42,325. Will the defending champ, Pauker, be back to see if he can win the event twice?

2018 will be bigger and better with two extra days and a turbo version of a starting day that have been added to the schedule In total, seven events will take place over five days, including the #QUEENRULES €80 Ladies event on Saturday, a two-day €220 NLHE Deepstack, €110 NLHE Turbo, and a €110 Single Re-entry Progressive Knockout.

Some of the more well-known Belgian poker players are joining the fray today including November Niner Pierre Neuville, Christophe De Meulder, Fabrice Halleux, Sebastien Magerat, Kristof Segers, Giovanni Saelens, and Pieter Ram. Even more are expected for Day 1B but first, it’s the turn for the Day 1A players to grab the spotlight.

A special last longer promotion for the Main Event has been set up for all online qualifiers which they will all be automatically participating in. The winner will walk away with a €2,000 Unibet Open package so this will be a great chance for a local player to win their seat for one of the most eagerly anticipated tournaments series in the whole poker world!

For the buy-in of €550, the players will receive 50,000 in chips. Late registration will be open for seven levels (until approximately 8 PM local time). During this late registration period, players can re-enter an unlimited amount of times. Levels will last 45 minutes each and a 15-minute break is scheduled after every three levels. The dinner break will last 75 minutes and is set to take place around 6:45 PM.

Twelve levels of play will take place today, with Day 1b starting at 1 PM tomorrow, Friday, August 31. Day 1c is set for the same day but will feature levels of 20-minutes each and starts at 8 PM. Another €80 Satellite is taking place at 7 PM today with registration open until the start of Level 7 which will be around 9 PM. Yesterday’s satellite attracted 55 entries, generating 7 tickets for the Main Event.

We’re excited to get started and hope you are too. Make sure to keep following the updates as we will be bringing you all the action from the floor here in Blankenberge!
