Unibet Open takes to the slopes for the first ever Ski-Edition in February 2019

Unibet Open is hosting its first ever winter sports festival in Sinaia – one of the most beautiful ski resorts in Romania and known as the Pearl of the Carpathian mountains.

Unibet Open Ski-Edition takes place February 12-18 with a six-day festival giving ski and snowboard enthusiasts plenty of opportunities to take to the slopes.

Sinaia is the closest ski resort to Bucharest and lies just 77 miles north of the capital – around 1.5 hours from Bucharest airport. The resort was once home to the Romanian Royal family who built the spectacular, fairytale Peles Castle in the 1880s.

Unibet Open Ski-Edition will offer players an unprecedented six nights in the resort and, for the first time, the schedule includes an extra day giving players extra time to enjoy Sinaia’s numerous attractions.

The Unibet Open Ski-Edition Main Event will also start at 3pm each day to give skiers and snowboarders a full morning of downhill action before taking to the poker tables. As always, Unibet players will also be treated to plenty of après-poker entertainment including a Welcome Drinks party and the exclusive Unibet Open SkiFest Players Party.

The event is being run in conjunction with PokerFest Romania, Unibet’s partners for the perennially popular Unibet Open Bucharest festival. At the last Unibet Open Bucharest, Russian player Anton Vinokurov won the €1,000 + €100 Main Event for a record first prize of €103,060 after beating a tough field of 592 entries.

Skiing and snowboarding in Sinaia
Sinaia features a wide range of slopes to suit skiers and snowboarders of all kinds. There are 20 km of slopes and 5 km of ski routes available with nine lifts. Most of Sinaia’s skiing is done at altitude (from 880m to 2,103m) making it one of the most snow-sure resorts in the region. Even when other resorts are bereft of snow, Sinaia usually has plenty on the higher slopes.

For culture buffs and non-skiers, Sinaia is a treasure trove of elegant villas, castles, promenades and parks, bars, restaurants and luxury shops. Among the most important tourist landmarks are Peleș Castle, Pelisor Castle, the late 17th century Sinaia Monastery, Sinaia Casino, two stunning royal train stations and the Franz Joseph and Saint Anne Cliffs.
