Verbanck Claims Chip Lead by Cracking Aces

Bart Verbanck was sitting with a huge stack in front of him and was kind enough to relate what had happened.

Ludovicus Abts shoved for 75,000 from the hijack and was called by Soner Guzel in the cutoff. Verbanck was sitting in the small blind with ace-king and shoved for 284,000 in total. Guzel called with pocket aces. Abts held pocket sixes.

Verbanck needed some luck to survive and it started on the flop when it came king-queen-unknown. The turn was another king to give Verbank trip kings and the river didn’t change the situation and Verbank eliminated Abts and doubled through Guzel!

Guzel still had 264,000 in front of him but Verbank claimed the chip lead for now with the 625,000 he has behind right now.

He is seated at the same table as Christophe De Meulder and David Lappin has now taken Abts old seat. Hopefully, it will be luckier for him than it was for Abts.
