Among our field are two players who are rather well-known in Estonia – but not for their poker playing prowess.
Liis Lemsalu and Teele Viira are both singing starlets in Estonia, graduates of respectively the Estonian version of Pop Idol and a show called “Searching for a Superstar”. Lemsalu won her show; Viira was eliminated from hers early on in the final rounds.
Since their TV appearances, both have continued their musical careers with Viira appearing in a lead role in a theatrical production of High School Musical while Lemsalu was signed to Universal and went on tour with other Pop Idol contestants.
Of the two, Viira has a better track record in poker – she picked up a €543 cash for second place in a small tournament right here in Tallinn a couple years ago. Lemsalu meanwhile is probably the least experienced player in the entire field – she was taught the basics of no limit hold’em yesterday, around an hour before the start of the Ladies’ Event.
