Ladies and gentlemen, we are all out of Day 1s!
After nine long levels, our Day 1b field has whittled itself down from 135 to roughly 55 – we’ll have confirmation of the final numbers shortly. At the end of play, our chip leader appears to be Estonia’s own Kuldar Metsla on 155,600 – just pipping Day 1a chip leader Puja Heino to the overall top spot for tomorrow’s Day 1b. Also finishing today with sizeable stacks are Juha Rasku (151,000), Ole Jensen (147,500), Andrejs Perederejevs (135,800) and Aki Votkin (122,000). Other stacks of particular note include those of Dan Glimne (52,900) and Paul Valkenburg (32,800).
Play resumes tomorrow at noon, when the survivors from both Day 1s will combine into a single field to do battle for first a spot in the money (32 places pay out) and then a coveted place at Sunday’s final table. Full chip counts from Day 1b will be up shortly here, and you can view the full prize pool info here.
Tomorrow also sees the start of the €2,300 + €200 High Roller event and the €200 + €20 PLO event, as well as the culmination of today’s €300 + €30 NLH side event and the Unibet Casino Challenge. We understand that there will also be a bit of a party going on for Unibet players and their guests late tomorrow night…
We’ll be back blogging in the Radisson Blu Hotel Olümpia from noon, and the live stream will of course be running from 2pm, bringing you all the action as it happens. Until Day 2, ladies and gentlemen – see you in the bar.
